Manager Expectations

  • Show respect to your fellow managers
  • Reply to any messages sent to you. Any communication is better than none at all.
  • Headsets are required
  • Rage-quitting is strictly prohibited and will result in removal from the league
  • Maintain communication through the XFA Discord
  • Utilize the XFA Discord for game scheduling
  • The home manager for a fixture is expected to send the invite
  • The winning manager (or home manager in a draw) is expected to submit scores/stats after a match
  • Managers are responsible for keeping their rosters updated in-game through EA roster updates.
  • Streaming of matches is recommended, but not mandatory.
  • Even though we will utilize custom rosters, any manager that is found to have edited player ratings or illegal rosters will be immediately removed, no questions asked. A league of this type only works if you can trust your fellow managers.

Club Teams

  • Any 3.5-star (or lower) club team in the game is available
    • No Brazilian clubs or fake players may be used in XFA
    • Teams will be drafted before the first season
    • All draft picks are final. No switching, no trading once you have picked.
  • There are two roster rules in the XFA:
    • Clubs must have exactly 20 players
    • Clubs may not go over the league salary cap
  • Owners may leave their club at the end of the season, but they will not be able to take their transfer budget with them, they will be treated as a new club joining the league.
    • There will be a period when owners can decide to stay at their current club or leave. This will happen between the end of the season and the off-season transfer window, so we know which clubs will be available.
    • Returning owners will have first choice on clubs if they choose to go to a new club. New owners will then be able to pick a club.
  • New clubs entering the league will be able to select similarly-rated (or lower) players at no cost to replace players that have been transferred.
    • Replacement players must be the same position (secondary positions count) and rating (or lower) as the player they are replacing.
    • Replacement players will be chosen before the transfer window opens.
    • Original teams have right of first refusal for reclaiming players that are available
    • If a player is transferred to your club in real life, they become a free agent, you do not acquire the player unless you claim them.
  • All new clubs will begin with a €10m transfer budget.

Both shield matches will be single games and will take place just before a new season begins.

International Competitions

Every off-season the XFA will hold an international competition. The competitions will between, in order, the XFA Nations League, the XFA Confederations Cup, and the XFA World Cup.

Every off-season there will be a draft for international teams, where managers must select a new country. The only exception to this will be the two finalists from the previous season’s competition, as they are not required to pick a new country.

All teams will be split into regions based on their location and which teams are available. There will be restrictions as to how many teams from each region are available, which will be updated before each draft.

For the Nations League and Confederations Cup in Season 1, the draft order will be the reverse order of the standings. Starting with the Season 1 World Cup, we will use a weighted system that takes service time, games played percentage, and previous results from the first 4 club seasons into account. The two finalists from the Confederations Cup will be able to keep their teams if they choose.

XFA Nations League

The XFA Nations League will be a group stage + knockout competition with the top international teams in the world. Teams will be drawn into groups and play two matches against each other (one home, one away). The top two teams from each group will then advance to the knockout stage with the next two teams based on points earned filling out the knockout bracket.

 XFA Confederations Cup

The XFA Confederations Cup will be a group stage + knockout competition with the top international teams in the world. ALL XFA KNOCKOUT GAMES THAT END IN A REGULATION DRAW WILL START A 2ND MATCH WITH THE SAME SUBS MADE AND WILL PLAY GOLDEN GOAL UNTIL SOMEONE SCORES.

Game Settings & Rules

Games will be played on

  • Xbox Live > Online Friendlies
  • Team Level: Any
  • Half Length: 6 mins
  • Controls: Any
  • Game Speed: Home team choice
  • Squad Type: Custom

Free Kick Defending

Setting a man on the line to defend a free kick is unrealistic and illegal. This is your warning. If it happens in a match and your opponent reports it, your highest-rated player will be benched for your next match. If it happens again, your two highest-rated players will be benched. A third offense will result in removal from the league. This isn’t a FUT league. If you want to play like it’s the Weekend League, this isn’t the league for you.

Match Reporting

  • All match reports are to be submitted on the League Republic site.
  • The winning team is responsible for reporting the match. In the event of a draw, the home team is responsible for the report.

Injuries & Bookings

Players can miss games due to injuries or card suspension (red or yellow). These will be posted each week with the news update. All suspensions/injuries take effect the following week. All injuries & suspensions carry over from league matches to cup matches and visa versa.

Injuries

  • When a player is injured during a match, it must be reported in the post-match report. Players that are injured will miss the next match

Bookings

  • Players that accumulate yellow cards will be suspended at the following intervals:
    • 3 yellow cards - 1 game
    • 5 yellow cards - 2 games
    • 7 yellow cards - 3 games
    • 9 yellow cards - 5 games
  • Straight red cards carry a 1-match ban.
    • If a player accumulates 3 straight red cards, he will be banned for the rest of the season.

XFA Rewards

Managers will be able to choose between cap space or CPU swaps, with the amount based on their league position. Cup rewards will work the same, with the two finalists choosing between cap space or CPU swaps.

  • Transfer values are NOT the same as the player’s cap number. It is strictly a value used when buying/selling a player.
  • Players may not be transferred twice in the same window. The only exception to this is players that are dropped and become free agents.

Transfer Rules

The XFA sanctions all transfer activity between clubs, and therefore has final approval on deals. The following rules have been put in place to help teams find success in the transfer market.

  • Transfers may only take place during open transfer windows.
    • There will be one off-season window and one mid-season window.
    • Windows will close at 12:00AM EST on the day in the schedule.
    • Players may only be transferred a maximum of 2 times per season
  • Player swaps are legal, as long as the deal is deemed fair by the XFA
  • Managers may swap players with non-human clubs
    • Players must be within 4 years of each other in age
    • Players must have the same position (secondary positions count as well)
    • Clubs cannot make profit from swapping a higher-rated player for a lower one
    • Managers must pay the difference in transfer value for higher-rated players

How to Make a Transfer

  • Bids must be submitted by using the XFA Transfer Bid form. Any other bids will be rejected.
  • All bids are blind, however there is a chance that some bids may be leaked to the media.
  • Teams can acquire a total of 2 players per off-season window through CPU swaps
    • Teams can acquire a total of 1 player per mid-season window through CPU swaps
    • Manager-Manager swaps and straight purchases are unlimited
  • If multiple teams bid for a player, the highest-bidding team will be awarded the player 24 hours after the initial bid.
  • You may withdraw a bid only under the following circumstances:
    • No other team has made a bid on the player
    • The 24-hour window has not passed yet
    • You must DM a commissioner to withdraw a bid.

Free Agency

Eligible Players

Free agents will be considered to be any player who:

  • Is dropped by an XFA club

OR

  • Appears on this list and appears in the game

Claiming a player

Claiming a free agent works just like a transfer, submit a claim using the XFA Transfer Bid form. If two (or more) clubs claim a free agent, it will go to bids. Free agent bids will be cash-only and begin at €1m. Bids must increase by at least €500,000. Only clubs who place a claim on a free agent may join the bid-off.  Free agents can only be added inside of transfer windows.

Dropping a player

Players may be dropped in order to make room for new players. Players can only be dropped inside of transfer windows.

Penalties

  • Rage quitting is strictly prohibited
  • Managers that are found to be fielding a player that is not on their listed roster may be subject to immediate removal from the league.
  • Managers that have illegally edited player ratings will be removed from the league.

**Disclaimer** Offenses not listed here that are found to be not in the good spirit of the league may be subject to additional fines, suspension, or removal from the league. The XFA also reserves the right to add or remove rules as it sees fit for the best interest of the league. Obviously the goal of this league is to have fun and try to recreate the manager mode experience as best we can in an online setting with friends. So basically, don’t be a dick and you’ll be fine.
